awww....AUSTIN

Boy, where do I start talking about Austin.  When we first pulled into town there was traffic backed up for miles and I thought "here we go".  I hate big cites and traffic!  But once we got downtown, I fell in LUST.  Then I met Congress Ave and it was all over, I fell in LOVE!  I don't know if it will be soon, but I will live there one day.  Everyone was so friendly and curious about our story.  It had that small town feel, but you have everything at your finger tips, at the same time.  The thing I liked the most was that you could walk everywhere.  I think sometimes in Oklahoma we are so used to getting in the car and driving we forget to take our time and enjoy the sights around us.  One thing that I wanted to see was the bats fly at dusk from the Congress Ave bridge, but unfortunately we missed it.  Oh well, that just gives me an excuse to go back soon.  The mean reason for going to Austin was for Natalie's bachelorette party.  That will be a separate post from this one.  There are many pictures and stories to go along with that.  I just wanted to talk about Austin desperate because it is a place that everyone needs to visit.  Until next time Austin......

great independence weekend

I had the most amazing weekend with great friends, old and new.

Finale at the Grand Lake fireworks show.  This display blew my mind.

Sometimes I forget how lucky of a person I am.  I had an amazing weekend.  Meet up with old friends, made a new friend and enjoyed new and exciting places.  There are times that I take for granted all the amazing opportunities I get in this life.  Having great relationships with lifelong friends, having a family that supports me every step of the way, but will also put me in my place when I need it and living in a place where I can have the freedom to be who I want to be.
Started this weekend off with a drive to Norman to visit Elizabeth.  We met up in OKC for dinner, along with Sloane and Greg, then after headed to Norman to begin packing for Elizabeth’s big move to OKC.  I seriously am so happy for E and all the exciting new adventures she is going to experience.  On Saturday Elizabeth and I went to the OK River Corporate Classic Regatta to watch Greg row.  To be honest I was kind of dreading doing this for the simple fact that I had get up at 6:30am on a Saturday morning, but I am so glad I went.  It was a really fun time.  Greg’s rowing time “Chesapeake 7” won first place.  Saturday evening was spent packing up E’s Norman house (although I didn’t do much packing at all) and having some good laughs.  There is not much that my friends get together for, serious or not, that we don’t make fun.  On Sunday we got up early once again to start packing (didn’t do much this time either).  We were in the city by noon to start unpacking Elizabeth’s things.  After everything was unpacked from the vehicles, is when I really realized how much stuff she had.  I can’t wait to come up again soon and see how she has put everything together and put her little touches on things.  The apartment is cute, but it will be adorable when Elizabeth gets done with it.

my new obsession....

Yesterday Natalie asked me if I knew about pinterest.com.  She then sent me an invite and it has been all peaches and cream since then.  This is the best site EVER! You can categories pictures of home decor ideas, music, quotes, crafts, you name it!  You can also add your own pictures and ideas.  This is the most amazing thing for me because I see things I like all the time and then forget about it because, I have no where to keep to all!!!! NOW I DO!

A friend is one who knows us, but loves us anyway.

I found these pics while going through some old stuff tonight. It is crazy how 11 years ago we were all hanging out on a Saturday night and 11years later they are my closest friends.  This past weekend we were all together again.   We might not see each other everyday or even every month, but when we do it is like no time has passed.  Love you girls and had a great time this weekend.  I look forward to the many more great times we will have in the future.

truth

Sometimes the thoughts in my mind run wild.  I cannot keep up with them and it drives me to a place where I fear everything.  Once I realize that you cannot control everything and you must let people say and do as they please, I reach a peace within.  In my heart is where the real truth rests.  The people that care about you and you care about them, are the ones that matter.  Not the ones that want to bring you down.

If there was one festival in the world I could go to it would be the Sky Lantern Festival in Thailand. How magical would this be.....

"This song makes me wanna PARTY" - Natalie Scherer

Just for you Natalie:

The crazy thing is....they're from Oklahoma!

the things in life that make me smile...

When you get around old friends there is just something about the feeling of comfort and being yourself that makes me have a happy light beaming from my soul. I love having friends that just say it like it is. So harsh, honest and true.

Some cat that I thought Eliza and Nat were going to end up taking home.

There is nothing like a front porch in the evening... or morning.... or afternoon....

The KOL documentary was really cool.  Seeing where a band comes from and how they were raised, is something that you don't get to do that offend.  It was sometimes hard to watch when they were being so raw.

finally pays off to live in OKLAHOMA

Going to to see the Kings of Leon documentary "Talihina Sky" tonight in OKC @ the deadCENTER film festival.  I am very excited to see this film.  Seeing where the artists come from definitely gives you more of an appreciation of their craft.

color on my mind

I have noticed a common theme in colors I have been using lately in my art. I have been obsessed with BLUES and GREENS! I wonder if this means anything?

These are two banners I did this spring for different charity auctions.

just a thought

I sometimes find myself wondering why people work so hard to be something/someone they aren't. It is much harder to worker at looking like you are something you aren’t, than to actually be who you are and be the best at it. If you never have to lie about your friendships, family, relationships or life there is going to be that much less stress on keeping up with the lies. People can see through you when there is constantly a curtain trying to hide what is really there. The wind will blow and the curtain will move and show what really is behind it. Don’t constantly be worried about a wind storm coming.
When I was a kid the world seemed so right. As I have grown up and viewed the world through my own eyes, I have realized that it is more fucked up then I could have ever imagined. I don’t know if it is the shock that as a kid all the people that you thought were so outstanding and wanted to be like are now not at all what you thought or is it that everyone just wants kids to live in a fantasy world until the worlds harsh reality slaps them in the face. I don’t want to go on and on about what people have become because I am not sure that people today are much different than in the past. Is our world more cruel or is it just that when you grow up you see how cruel the world really is?

a little something this morning....

some of my favorite music right now

Had to add this remix!  THANKS ALYSE

The Beginning....

I have been thinking about starting a blog for awhile now.  I was talking to a friend about her blog and was asking how much she really liked it.  She started talking about how she used it like a place to remember all the things that you think of during the day that you like, like music, art, quotes and so on.  I thought this was a wonderful idea because I always have a millions things in my head just floating around, so now I have a place to store them until I can use them.
